Print it, cut it in half, laminate it. Done in about 5 minutes — at home or at any print shop near you.
After registering, your Dorbel dashboard gives you a PDF to download. It's designed to print on a standard A4 or US Letter sheet — the size that comes out of any home printer or print shop, anywhere in the world.
The PDF contains two copies of your sign, one on each half of the page. Print it once, make one straight cut down the middle, and you have two identical signs. Put one on your door and keep the other as a spare in case you need it.
No special paper. No special printer. No special skills.
Each step takes about a minute.
From your Dorbel dashboard, download your sign as a PDF. Save it to your phone or computer — either works at a print shop.
At home on any printer, or hand your phone to someone at a print shop and ask for one copy, full-page. Black and white is fine.
One straight cut across the middle of the page gives you two signs. Scissors or a paper guillotine both work perfectly.
Slide it into a laminating pouch — or ask the print shop to laminate it — then fix it to your door with tape or a thumbtack.
An unlaminated sign works fine indoors, but if it's near a front door that gets any rain or humidity, lamination keeps the QR code scannable for years instead of weeks. A damaged or faded QR code means visitors can't ring your bell, so it's worth the extra step.
The good news: lamination is easy and cheap. Most print shops will laminate a single sheet for $1–3 while you wait. If you'd rather do it at home, self-adhesive laminating pouches (A5 size) require no machine — peel the backing, press around your sign, done. A pack of ten costs about $5–10 at any office supplies store.
Walk in, show them the PDF on your phone, ask for one copy and a laminate. The whole job takes about 5 minutes and costs $2–5 in most places.
At Officeworks: use the self-service printer to print your PDF, then ask at the counter to laminate it. Total cost is usually under $3.
At any of these: show them the PDF on your phone, ask for one black-and-white or colour print and a laminate.
Local copy shops near universities or town centres are often the fastest option for a one-page job — no appointment needed.
A search for "copy shop" or "print shop" near you will find options. It's a standard one-page print job that any shop can handle in a few minutes.
If you have a printer, you don't need a print shop at all. Print the PDF on plain paper, cut across the middle of the page with scissors, and fix your sign to the door with a piece of tape or a thumbtack.
For outdoor use, self-adhesive laminating pouches are the easiest option — no machine required. They come in packs at any office supplies store (look for A5 size). Peel the backing off one half, lay your sign face-down, fold it over and press it flat. Done in under a minute.
Self-adhesive pouches are stocked at Officeworks, Kmart, and most supermarkets in Australia; at Staples, Office Depot, and Walmart in the US; and at WHSmith, Ryman, and most supermarkets in the UK.
If you'd rather skip printing entirely, we offer a durable perspex or aluminium plaque with your QR code professionally printed and finished. It arrives ready to mount — just fix it to your door.
