The terms that govern your use of the Dorbel service.
Last updated: 23 April 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Dorbel ("Dorbel", "we", "us") and apply to your use of the Dorbel service, including the dorbel.app website, the subscriber dashboard, and any related features (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, subscribing to a plan, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Dorbel provides a software-only smart doorbell. Visitors scan a QR code to reach the people you have designated as notification recipients. Communication takes place over the open internet using standard web technologies. The Service relies on the availability of third-party networks, devices, and infrastructure that are outside our control.
You must be at least 16 years old and legally able to enter into a binding contract to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate contact details and keep them up to date. You must not impersonate another person or use the Service on behalf of someone else without their authority.
You agree not to use the Service to:
We may suspend or terminate your account for serious or repeated breaches of these rules.
Paid plans are offered on a monthly or yearly cadence, as selected at sign-up. The current plans and prices are shown on our pricing page. Prices are quoted in local currency and may be subject to sales tax, VAT, GST, or equivalent charges depending on your location.
Merchant of Record. Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited, which acts as our Merchant of Record. Paddle is the party named on your payment statement and is responsible for collecting and remitting applicable taxes. Your contract for the paid service itself is with Dorbel; your contract for the payment transaction is with Paddle. Paddle's terms are available at paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms.
Auto-renewal. Unless you cancel, paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price for your plan. We will attempt to notify you in advance of any material price change.
Failed payments. If a payment fails we may retry collection and, if collection continues to fail, suspend or cancel the subscription.
Some plans include a free trial period. Trial availability and length are shown at the time of sign-up and may change over time. You will not be charged during a trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the plan converts to a paid subscription at the price disclosed at sign-up. See the Refund Policy for details.
You can cancel at any time from the subscriber dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; the Service remains available until that date. Refund eligibility is described in our Refund Policy.
We offer optional perspex or aluminium plaques as a one-off physical purchase. These items are shipped as physical goods and, once delivered or dispatched, are non-refundable except where required by applicable consumer law. This does not affect your rights for items that arrive damaged or faulty.
Our Privacy Policy describes what we collect, why, and what we do with it. By using the Service you agree to our handling of information as set out there.
Dorbel and its licensors own the Service, including all software, content, logos, and trademarks. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose while your subscription is active. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any intellectual property to you.
You retain ownership of the information you provide. By submitting content through the Service, you grant us a limited licence to use that content solely to operate and deliver the Service to you.
The Service uses third-party services (including payment processing, email delivery, SMS delivery, and cloud infrastructure) to operate. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party services beyond their role in delivering the Service. Visitor devices, mobile networks, and carrier SMS delivery are outside our control.
We work hard to keep the Service reliable, but to the maximum extent permitted by law the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise.
Dorbel is not a security, alarm, or emergency response system. Notifications depend on third-party networks, devices, and carriers, and may be delayed or fail to deliver. Do not rely on the Service for urgent or safety-critical communication. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dorbel is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunities. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or AUD $100, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including certain rights under the Australian Consumer Law or equivalent legislation in your jurisdiction.
You agree to indemnify and hold Dorbel harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or content you submit through the Service.
You can stop using the Service at any time by cancelling your subscription. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if continued provision of the Service becomes impractical for us. Where circumstances allow, we will give you reasonable notice.
We may update the Service and these Terms over time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or operational needs. If we make material changes to these Terms we will update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify account holders by email. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of Australia have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms, subject to any mandatory consumer protections available to you in your place of residence.
Questions about these Terms can be sent through the contact form on our About page.
